Book Shelf

I have moved recently and my boyfriend and I are hunting for some more new furniture.
And this book shelf is the one we found. Made with natural wood. It has such a character and nice feel to it. Though this was used as a display shelf in the shop so we had to strip off all the soft toys and cards from the shelf....
Anyway, it is part of our house now and making it a nice space for me to work on the projects coming up soon.

Yumekuibaku

I don't know how people talk about Tapirs in Western culture, but we say they eat dreams. I can't remember whether they eat any dreams or eat away nightmares for you.
Sweet dreams everyone.

Season's Greeting

and

These cards are designed by me.  I've been writing Christmas cards all this week. Hoogh! My left hand is very painful. I bet there are loads of cards going out from each house around this time. And the queue in Post offices!! Amazing!
It is the year of tiger next year.

Also, I have set up my own website! So visit my website at www.nozomiinoue.com  if you haven't already!

This is an entry for the Yomiuri Ad competition for Tombow Pencil, the stationery company in Japan. Can you see the typical Japanese school uniforms in this image?

From factory to Illustration

When I went back to Japan this summer, I visited my friends in Yamaguchi. There I saw a lot of factory buildings and chimneys. Because the area belongs to Japan's industrial zone that runs almost down parallel to the island itself. I was amazed by the look of it. The bare pipes running across the buildings, number of chimneys blowing smokes out and it continues to the distance. That moment I was enchanted by the view. So I decided I want to turn them into my work, somehow use their beautiful shapes in my illustration and these are the result of it. They are also entry for UT design 2010.
